WVU Parkersburg Student Services' staff named to lead state organizations.

Two West Virginia University at Parkersburg Student Services' staff have been selected to lead state organizations.

Leslie Sims, interim registrar, is the president elect of the West Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. She was elected in October at the association's annual fall conference meeting in Charleston.

The organization includes close to 100 members representing the higher education staff involved in the registration and admission processes at state higher education institutions.

Tom Yencha, director of student activities, has been chosen to serve as chair of the West Virginia Collegiate Initiative to Address High Risk Alcohol Use. The WVCIA proactively addresses collegiate alcohol, other drug and associated violence issues through the use of evidence-based strategies.

The organization is an outgrowth of the original Governor's Summit on Alcohol Use in Higher Education.
