Local education delegation presents at national conference.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A delegation of West Virginia University at Parkersburg Education Division faculty and student teacher candidates as well as teachers from Wood County Schools participated in the National Association of Professional Development Schools Conference held in Orlando, Fla., April 9-12.

The eight-member group was involved in making three presentations at the national conference.  The sessions presented by the delegation included: 

 “Teacher Candidates as EMT’s (Emergency Math Technicians):  Meeting Immediate Needs of Professional Development Schools” by Vickie Hyre, Wood County Schools; Missy Powers, Wood County Schools; David Lancaster, WVU Parkersburg; Cindy Kelley, WVU Parkersburg; David Cumberledge, WVU Parkersburg teacher candidate, and David Raffa, WVU Parkersburg teacher candidate.

“A PDS Relationship is ‘Pretty Darn Special” by Joe Oliverio, Wood County Schools, and Cindy Kelley, WVU Parkersburg.

 “The Importance of the PDS Liaison” by Greg Boso and Cindy Kelley, both WVU Parkersburg. 

                    

The participants are all part of the Partnerships Project.  This is WVU Parkersburg’s professional development school program associated with its teacher preparation program.  WVU Parkersburg's project includes a network of 12 schools in Wood, Ritchie, Pleasants, and Jackson Counties.
