FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

An article written by four local educators has been published in the most recent issue of PDS Partners, the official newsletter of the National Association for Professional Development Schools.

"Taking A Chance with Action Research" was co-written by Cynthia Kelley, West Virginia University at Parkersburg professor of education; Cynthia Gissy, acting chair of the college's Education Division and associate professor of education; and D. Keith Enoch, principal and Esther Lauderman, assistant principal, both at Williamstown Elementary School.

The article describes a research initiative involving teacher candidates at WVU Parkersburg and in-service teachers at Williamstown Elementary.

The NAPDS includes more than 1,000 educators in more than 40 states and five counties involved in promoting the development of collaborative public school/higher education/community relationships.

WVU Parkersburg offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  The Parkersburg campus is the only community college in West Virginia accredited to offer bachelor's degrees.
