FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg is launching a "Two Days a Week" plan to help students with fuel expenses this fall.

Students will be able to schedule a full course load of classes and only be on campus two days a week.  The college's general education classes have been scheduled so that students can take advantage of reducing the number of days they are on campus.

General education courses are required of the institution's associate and bachelor's degrees.

"We know that our students are faced with increased fuel costs," noted Rhonda Richards, executive dean of academic affairs.

"The fall schedule has been developed so that students can take 12 to 15 hours of gen ed classes to complete core requirements for their degrees and only be on campus two days a week to save expenses," she said.

In addition, a number of the classes are also available in an on-line format, she added.

Students can coordinate their schedules with their academic advisors to take advantage of the two-day plan for fall semester classes which begin August 18.
