WVU Parkersburg to offer free student counseling on campus.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg has entered into an agreement with Westbrook Health Services to provide free student counseling on campus.

The confidential counseling will include short-term, emergency and/or crisis counseling, consultations and assessments for WVU Parkersburg students, said Danita Brown, interim dean of students.

Westbrook counselors will be available on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, effective Feb. 26. 

All students must be screened by the Dean of Students’ office before receiving counseling. 

“Students may either refer themselves or be referred by a faculty, staff or administrator at the college,” Brown noted.   “On-campus services provided by Westbrook are not meant to be long-term.”

The counseling services are being provided at no cost to the student while being seen at WVU Parkersburg.  If it is determined that a student needs additional counseling, it will then become the responsibility of the student to handle all arrangements, including transportation and payment.
