FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASETo commemorate Constitution Day, West Virginia University at Parkersburg will sponsor its fourth annual essay contest, which encourages students to reflect on the impact of the United States Constitution on their lives.
The contest is open to all WVU at Parkersburg students and senior students attending high schools in Wood County.
In this presidential election year, students are to explain in 500 words why they should vote. The due date for submissions is Wednesday, Sept. 10. Entries should be returned to Dr. Robert Anderson of the Social Sciences Division, 300 Campus Drive, Parkersburg, WV 26104-8647. They may also be sent by e-mail as a Word attachment to Dr. Anderson at rob.anderson@mail.wvu.edu. Essays should be typed and double-spaced.
Prizes include: 1st place, three hours of in-state tuition (valued at $327.45); second place, $150 gift card from the WVU Parkersburg Bookstore, and third place, $50 gift certificate from the campus bookstore.
A juried panel of faculty members will read the submissions and select the ones of highest merit. The winning entries will be put on display as part of the Constitution Day commemoration on the WVU at Parkersburg campus.
