FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEThe 11th annual spring conference of the West Virginia Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages will be held at West Virginia University at Parkersburg this weekend (April 25-26).
Theme of the conference is "Communicating Across Cultures in the 21st Century." Sessions will focus on topics related to meeting the challenges of globalization as they impact English language teaching in West Virginia.
Keynote speaker will be John Segota, advocacy and professional relations manager with the national TESOL association.
The conference is held for those interested in or who are now working with English language learners in school or community settings. Presentations will be designed for all levels and settings of ESL, including the public school system, adult and literacy education, and higher education.
A pre-conference is planned from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday (April 25) with the main sessions on Saturday (April 26) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
