WVU Parkersburg hosting state forensics tournament

WVU Parkersburg to host state forensics tournament Feb. 23-24, 2007.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will host the West Virginia Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Tournament this weekend.

Speech teams from five institutions will be participating in the two-day tourney to be held Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24). In addition to WVU Parkersburg, institutions vying for honors include Marshall University, Alderson-Broaddus College, Ohio Valley University, and Shepherd University.

The WVIFA competition serves as the state tournament. Students who qualify will advance to the national tournament and the Interstate Oratory competition.

Tournament registration will begin at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, outside the college's multi-purpose room.

Barbara Harris, WVU Parkersburg speech instructor, is the current president of the WVIFA.
