WVU Parkersburg Theatre Department to present "The Vagina Monologues."

CONTACT:  Carson Soelberg, WVU Parkersburg theatre coordinator, 304-424-8295.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"The Vagina Monologues" by Eve Ensler will be presented Friday and Saturday (February 23 & 24) by West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Theatre Department.

The production will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the college theatre.

A donation of $5.00 is suggested.  All proceeds will benefit facilities that aid abused women, including The Family Crisis Intervention Center in Parkersburg.  Last year's production raised over $600 for the center.

Directed by WVU Parkersburg student Katie Deem, the production, which consists of a series of monologues based on interviews Ms. Ensler conducted with women across the country, provides an insightful view into a variety of subjects from the humorous to the sublime and from the hilarious to what might be referred to as genuinely terrifying. "Wonderful, Enlightening, and Entertaining" are only a few of the positive comments made by those who have attended a performance of Ensler's work.

"The Vagina Monologues" is presented across the country and the world during the month of February to draw attention to and raise funds to aid the many women abused every year with few places to turn for comfort and aid.

Additional information is available by contacting Carson Soelberg, director of theatre, at 424-8295.
