FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will be offering its summer courses over five terms:  a 12-week session, an eight-week term and three four-week sessions.

In the past, the college scheduled two summer four-week sessions and one eight-week term.  This summer's change is designed to serve students better by giving them additional options and flexibility, Joseph Badgley, executive dean of academic affairs, said.

"Not only will our students be better served but we also have a number of transient students from other colleges and universities in the summer and this will give them increased options," he noted.

The first four-week session and the 12-week term begin Monday, May 14.  The classes of the second four-week and the eight-week sessions get under way June 11.  The third four-week summer term begins July 9.

The college has increased the number of electronic and alternative delivery courses it offers in the summer as well.

Registration is currently open for the summer and fall terms.
