The president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg has been elected to a national community college association's executive committee.

WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage joins three other regional representatives who were elected by member institutions of the American Association of Community Colleges to serve on the AACC's Presidents Academy Executive Committee.

The elected community college presidents include:  Sean Fanelli, president of Nassau Community College, (New York), Northern region; Jana Kooi, president of Pima Community College’s Community Campus, (Arizona), Pacific region; and President Gnage, Southern region.   Their terms are for three years, effective July 1.

Frances White, president of the College of Marin (California), was elected to chair the Presidents Academy.

The AACC Presidents Academy Executive Committee is a group of 13 elected community college CEOs who monitor and sponsor CEO leadership development opportunities and programs for member CEOs. The committee includes the chair, chair-elect, past chair and two representatives from each of the five regions.

Formed in 1920, the AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The association represents more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students.
