CONTACT: Martha Leeson, program assistant, 304-424-8275.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grantwriting Basics, an introductory class for the new grantwriter and a refresher for those who are skill-polishing, will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
The session will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in the college's Corporate and Community Education building. An afternoon class, Preparing a Grant Application, will go in-depth and work through an actual narrative and budget for a sample grant project. That class will be held from 1-4 p.m., and includes a visit to the college's library and the Foundation Center collection.
Topics to be covered include: research and identification of appropriate sources; preparing the required documentation for your organization to be grant-ready; developing relationships with potential funders; understanding the terminology and completing the paperwork; elements of a narrative; creating a clear budget, and tracking and evaluation methods.
Fee for the class is $55 per class for the first person from an organization, $45 for each additional person registered. Those who register for both morning and afternoon classes will receive the $10 discount as well. A $6 box lunch is available to be ordered with registration for those who are attending both classes.
Registration information is available by contacting Martha Leeson at 424-8275.
