WVU Parkersburg Education Division receives $15,000 21st Century Pre-Service planning grant.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Education Division is the recipient of a $15,000 West Virginia Department of Education 21st Century Pre-Service planning grant.

Purpose of the grant is to provide funds to assist the division in aligning its educator preparation program with the state's 21st Century Partnership initiative, noted Cindy Kelley, chair of the college's Education Division.

"The goal of the project is to ensure that teacher graduates from WVU Parkersburg are prepared to integrate 21st Century learning skills into daily classroom instruction," she said.

The division plans to use the grant monies to provide professional development opportunities to faculty, classroom teachers and teacher candidates on issues related to 21st Century learning.

WVU Parkersburg's Education Division offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
