WVU Parkersburg names new business services director, CFO

A finance administrator for the Seattle Community College system is the new director of business services and chief financial officer at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

Following a national search, Elizabeth Baker has assumed the Parkersburg position following the retirement of Jack Simpkin who held various business-related positions at WVU Parkersburg for the past 32 years.

Baker has 21 years of experience in higher education and state government finance. Prior to her Parkersburg appointment, she served as manager of financial reporting and analysis for Seattle Community College District for four years.

She has also served as an education program specialist for the state of Louisiana's Department of Education; vice president of business and operations at Shoreline Community College in Washington state, and assistant director of operating budget for the Community and Technical College system in Washington state.

"Liz brings a wealth of institutional and higher education system experience to this executive-level position," said Marie Foster Gnage, president of WVU Parkersburg.

"We are pleased to have her expertise as we pursue technologic initiatives and efficiency measures to streamline fiscal-related operations," she added.

Baker received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Southeastern Louisiana University and her master's in business administration from the University of New Orleans. She completed the Executive Management Leadership Institute at Stanford University in 2006.
