FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Theatre Department will present "The Vagina Monologues" Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18.

Curtain time is 8 p.m. both evenings in the college theatre.  The Eve Ensler play deals with a variety of women’s issues and has been presented every year at Valentine’s Day since it premiered in the 1990s. This year the play will be presented through 1,136 “V-Day Events” in 60 countries around the world with 434 worldwide and 702 college campaigns.  V-Day is an organized response against violence toward women.  The stated goal of V-Day is to continue presenting the work every year around Valentine’s Day “until the violence stops.”

"The Vagina Monologues" is directed by speech instructor Barbara Harris and features the combined talents of Brittany Huffman, Caena Stewart, Jane Eyberg, Katie Deem, Sarah Elizabeth Shelman, Amanda Parsons, Dallas Zickefoose, Brandi Wolfe, and Elizabeth Alden.

There is no charge to attend but a $5 donation at the door is suggested. All proceeds will be donated to centers that aid women who have suffered abuse with 90% of the proceeds to local centers.
