WVU Parkersburg offering summer class in Koiné Greek

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will offer a course in Koiné Greek this summer for area residents interested in learning Old Testament and New Testament Greek.

In the eight-week class, students will learn how to speak, read, and write Greek.  Koiné Greek is a dialect of the Greek language that developed and flourished during the time of the Roman Empire and from which Modern Greek descended.

No prior knowledge of Greek is required. The class will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning June 6.  The three-credit-hour course will be taught by Randy A. Oldaker, associate professor and coordinator of the college's Foreign Language Department.  The course is listed as FLAN 297 Beginning Ancient Greek.

WVU Parkersburg is offering one eight-week and two four-week summer terms.  The eight-week classes begin June 5.  Registration is currently open.  Additional information is available by contacting the college's Records Office.
