FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEA West Virginia University at Parkersburg adjunct faculty member will present a workshop at the Dogwood Writing Conference near Ashland, Ky.
Joy Held, adjunct faculty in Reading and English, will deliver a workshop Saturday (May 13) at the first annual conference of the Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia Writers Chapter 180, Romance Writers of America. The event will take place in the Jesse Stuart Lodge at Greenbo Lake State Park Resort near Argillite, Ky.
Held will guide workshop participants in activities from her book "Writer Wellness, A Writer's Path to Health and Creativity," a 2003 release from New Leaf Books. She will also participate in the mini-book fair and signing following the conference workshops.
"I met Jesse Stuart, a magnificent Appalachian writer, when I was in the eighth grade," Held said.
"It was then I knew I wanted to be a writer," she continued. "His books have been inspirations to me in many ways, and I'm excited about teaching a workshop in the Jesse Stuart Lodge near the home in which he created much of his work like "Foretaste of Glory" and numerous short stories."
