WVU Parkersburg speech instructor to present at national forensics conference.

A West Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty member will present at the Eastern Communication Association’s 2006 annual meeting in Philadelphia.

Barbara Harris, instructor of speech, will be among six presenters who will discuss “Transforming Communication and Community: Forensics and Its Communities,” during the 97th annual meeting April 26-30.   The panel will examine and share specific examples in which forensics and their students have served to help transform the various communities in which they interact.

Harris is coach of WVU Parkersburg’s forensics team.

Theme of the convention is “Transforming Communication and Community” which is a direct call to make a difference in communities’ everyday existences by helping them to effectively apply critical communication skills.  

Established in 1910, the Eastern Communication Association is the oldest professional communication association in the United States.  It is a service oriented organization with a history of achievement in research, criticism, communication theory and excellence in teaching.
