WVU Parkersburg to offer new dance class.adjunct faculty member, 304-424-8301

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWest Virginia University at Parkersburg will offer a new dance class in the Fall 2006 semester which begins Monday (August 21). Jazz/Modern 297 will explore basic jazz dance technique, elements of beginning modern, stretching, jazz dance history, health, and nutrition for the dancer. The class is suitable for students interested in dance, physical education or theatre arts.
Adjunct faculty member Joy Held will teach the class. Held brings a wealth of experience to the course including thirty years as a choreographer and teacher. She is also a regular columnist for Dancer Magazine.
The three-credit-hour class is open to men and women and will meet from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, in the aerobics room. A textbook and jazz shoes are required course materials. No previous dance training is necessary to participate.
