Four WVU Parkersburg faculty honored

Four WVU Parkersburg faculty to be recognized for teaching excellence.

Four West Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty members are being recognized for their teaching excellence in the community college setting.

At its May 28-31 conference in Austin, Tex., the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development will honor Les Bennett, professor of English; Ed Crisp, professor of geology; Linda Meyers, professor of health, physical education and recreation, and Debbie Murphy, professor of nursing. The WVU Parkersburg faculty members will be awarded 2006 NISOD Excellence Awards, which are specially cast, pewter medallions.

Their selection recognizes their years of outstanding service to WVU Parkersburg as well as their excellence in teaching and course and program development. They will join more than 1,000 faculty, staff and administrators being honored for their commitment to serving students at "open access" institutions.

For more than 26 years, NISOD has been committed to inspiring excellence in teaching as it assists community colleges in improving student retention and achievement. More than 700 community colleges around the world are NISOD members.
