WVU Parkersburg to host "Tea with Susan B."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWest Virginia Secretary of State Betty Ireland will commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Woman's Suffrage Movement with a "Tea with Susan B. (Anthony)" on Wednesday (August 24) at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
The tea is part of a statewide "Celebrate Voting" campaign. It will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Room 2536 at the college and is open to the public. Advanced registration is required.
Ireland is traveling throughout the state to acknowledge and celebrate milestone anniversaries including the certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920, the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990.
At the Parkersburg campus tea, Secretary Ireland will provide personal remarks concerning the Women's Suffrage Movement, the 19th amendment and current voting issues. Also, there will be a short theatrical presentation with monologues from Susan B. Anthony and Sojourner Truth.
