Stage Too Company to Sponsor "Next Step, Hollywood" Seminar

A former Hollywood casting director and personal manager will present the seminar, "Next Step, Hollywood," August 28 in the rehearsal hall of the Actors Guild Playhouse in downtown Parkersburg.
The
1 to 4 p.m. seminar by Linda Roberts is sponsored by the Actors Guild's
Stage Too company. Stage Too is a cooperative partnership of
West Virginia University at Parkersburg and the Actors Guild of Parkersburg.
The session is designed to introduce participants
to the business of show business. Topics will include: How to
Break into Commercials, Motion Pictures, Comedy, and Drama; How to Know if
You Need a Personal Manager; When to Hire a Publicist, Business Manager or
Lawyer; Unions and Guilds; How to Get an Agent; Pictures, Resumes and
Audition Techniques. A “mock” casting session will be done throughout the
event using volunteer audience members.
Roberts started in show business when she moved to Los
Angeles in 1981 to help her 19-year old son break into the music business.
Three years later, he replaced Peter Cetera in the legendary band
“Chicago.” Since that time, Roberts has propelled the careers of numerous
series stars and musical performers. She was the principal casting director
for “Silk Stalkings” and “Renegade,” and cast a pilot for Stephen J. Cannell
called “Greyhounds.” She searched for the female lead in “A Walk in the
Clouds,” starring Keanu Reeves.
Space is limited for the seminar and advanced reservations are required.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age. The $15 fee ($10 for Actors
Guild members) includes a binder of materials for participants to keep after
the seminar. A personal critique by Roberts is also available and those
interested should bring a picture and resume to the seminar.
