FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Humanities Division of West Virginia University at Parkersburg will present "Packing Up the Past" ("Hay que deshacer la casa"), an award-winning play depicting life in Spain in the early 1980s, on Thursday, June 30.

The free production will be performed in Spanish by students in the college's summer Spanish theatre seminar.  Showtime is at 7 p.m. in the college theatre and is free and open to the public.

Winner of Spain's prestigious Lope de Vega prize, the Sebastian Junyent comedy opened in Valencia in 1994 and at the Teatro de la Comedia in Madrid in 1995.

The WVU Parkersburg production is under the direction of Francisco Cabello, guest consultant, and Ms. Gusta Arrington.  A discussion session will follow the production.

Copies of the play in Spanish and English are on reserve in the college library for those interested in reading the play prior to the performance. Visual aids in English will be provided during the production to assist the audience in understanding the play.  The project is funded in part by a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council.
