CONTACT:  Becky Ash, program assistant, 304-424-8275.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Grantwriting Basics, an introduction for the new grantwriter and a refresher for those who are skill-polishing, will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

The workshop will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in WVU Parkersburg's Center for Corporate and Community Education.

An afternoon class, Preparing a Grant Application, will go in depth and work through an actual narrative and budget for a sample grant project.   The afternoon session will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and include a visit to the college's library and new Foundation Center collection.

Topics to be covered include:  research and identification of appropriate sources; preparing the required documentation for your organization to be grant-ready; developing relationships with potential funders; understanding the terminology and completing the paperwork; elements of a narrative; creating a clear budget, and tracking and evaluation methods.

Fee for the class is $55 per class for the first person from an organization, $45 for each additional person registered.  Those who register for both morning and afternoon classes will receive the $10 discount as well.  A $6 box lunch is available to be ordered with registration for those who are attending both classes.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 1.  Registration information is available by contacting the college's Center for Corporate and Community Education, 424-8275.
