FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will host a visit Tuesday (April 5) by President George W. Bush in the College Activities Center.

"Hosting President Bush is a unique and wonderful opportunity for the college," said WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage.   "Millions of people will learn our name and national focus will be placed on our institution.   It is a moment and a point of pride for our campus and our state," she added.

College officials noted that classes will meet and campus offices will be in operation as usual during Tuesday's event.   Every effort is being made to keep disruption to a minimum.

A portion of the college's parking will be reserved for the event, including all of the upper lot and several rows of the lower parking lot. WVU Parkersburg staff, faculty and students are asked to access parking on Tuesday by turning onto old Route 47 (Cedar Grove Road), proceeding to Nicholette Road (right off of old Route 47) and turning left into the lower parking lot. Campus security will be directing traffic. Overflow parking will be on the grass east of the Caperton Center.  Because of anticipated traffic, staff, faculty and students should allow for extra travel time.

Reserved parking in the designated areas in the upper and lower lots will be for event ticket holders.

The handicapped spaces in the front of the main campus building will be available for handicapped parking as usual.
