New course in history and masterworks of American musical theatre being offered.

A new course exploring the history and masterworks of the American musical theatre is being offered this summer at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Offered in an alternative delivery format, American Musical Theatre will utilize the PBS series "Broadway: The American Musical" for its structure. There will be five class meetings; June 7, June 28, July 12, August 9 and August 11 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. in Room 2215.
In addition to class meetings, readings and videos of musical performances, students will attend two live musical theatre performances. Course instructor is H.G. Young III, professor of music. Dr. Young has served as musical director, conductor and pianist for more than 25 musical theatre productions.
Open to area residents, the three-credit-hour upper division course (MUSI 397) is for those who have completed 48 college credits including English 102 (or equivalent) or with instructor approval. It is especially appropriate for students pursuing the Regents Bachelor of Arts degree.
