A West Virginia University at Parkersburg student’s award-winning speech is featured in a national oratory publication.

Angela C. Smith’s persuasive speaking entry, which won first place in West Virginia collegiate competition, is included in the Interstate Oratorical Association’s most recent “Winning Orations” edition.  The Parkersburg resident’s speech was entitled “Extinguish the Fire: Before We Perish in an Inferno.”

The Interstate Oratorical Association sponsors the oldest oratorical contest in the United States where the top two persuasive speakers from each state gather to showcase student oratorical skills.  Winners are featured in the association’s annual publication.
