FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Student organizations at West Virginia University at Parkersburg are joining together in an effort to help area flood victims.

Various campus organizations are collecting donations of good used clothing, household items, small appliances and toys in a project to disburse the items to those affected by the recent floods.  Anyone interested in donating items can bring them to the college's multi-purpose room from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday (Oct. 6) and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7.   If possible, organizers ask that the items be in boxes or bags and sorted if possible.

Disbursement of these donated items will be open to area West Virginia and Ohio residents from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8 in the college's multi-purpose room.

The project's sponsoring organizations include the campus Environmental Action Group, Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government Association and the Student Nurses Association.  Contact Rose Beebe or Amy Richards in the Health Sciences Division, 424-8300, for additional information.
