A West Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty member is the 2003 recipient of the West Virginia Lifetime Achievement in Accounting Education Award.
C. Roger Lewis, a WVU Parkersburg business professor, was selected as the state's collegiate accounting educator of the year. The achievement award is sponsored by the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Lewis was honored at a luncheon in Charleston.
Lewis' collegiate teaching career extends over 30 years. Prior to join the Parkersburg faculty in 1990, he taught at Glenville State College for 17 years.
"Roger is a trusted professional whose ability to communicate with clarity and objectivity and to translate complex information into critical knowledge distinguishes him in the area of classroom teaching," Erik Bitterbaum, WVU Parkersburg president, noted.
In addition to his campus involvement, Lewis has served as a consultant to local small business entities and tax accounting firms as well as a principal in several small business-oriented accounting/consulting partnerships. He is a frequent workshop presenter for area businesses and industrial plants.
Lewis received his bachelor's degree in economics from North Carolina State University and his master's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
