FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Area residents who are single parents, unemployed or underemployed are being sought to participate in a free "Start Smart" program being offered by West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Those who qualify will be eligible to enroll in an introductory class designed to provide information about how best to begin pursuit of a college degree. Participants will receive free tuition, textbooks and on-campus childcare for the class.
The "Start Smart" sessions will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. weekly, beginning Tuesday (Feb. 18), through April 29 at WVU Parkersburg. Topics will include career options, how to apply for financial aid, strategies for study skills and time management and other related subjects.
