Malaysian ambassador visits WVU Parkersburg.

The ambassador of Malaysia to the United States visited West Virginia University at Parkersburg this week.

His Excellency Dato Sheikh Abdul Khalid Ghazzali, and his wife, Datin Faridah Ghazzali, met with college students, faculty and staff Monday (March 3) and attended a luncheon in their honor. The ambassador spoke on the topic of "The Malaysia-U.S. Relationship" followed by a question and answer session.  

Ambassador Ghazzali has been a career diplomat since 1971 and was appointed Ambassador to the United States in April, 1999.  Prior to his appointment, he served as the deputy secretary-general at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  He has also had appointments in Hong Kong, Germany, Austria, Thailand, the United Nations in New York, the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.

WVU Parkersburg’s first-ever Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence is from Malaysia and is teaching theatre courses this spring on the Parkersburg campus. Mohamed Ghouse Nasuruddin, theatre professor, invited the ambassador to visit WVU Parkersburg.
