FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A timely discussion, "United Nations -- Last Chance for Peace?" will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
The panel discussion will be held in Room 2537 at WVU Parkersburg and is free and open to the public.
On the birthday of the United Nations, the local panel of political and military authorities will discuss the history, effectiveness and potential of an organization considered a last hope to prevent a United States-Iraq war by some and as an ineffectual body by others.
Panel participants include Ron Atkinson, professor of social sciences and chair of the Social Sciences Division; George Lamb, professor of history, and Doug Weaver, assistant professor of computer science and a member of the West Virginia Air National Guard.
The program is sponsored by WVU at Parkersburg’s Social Justice Committee.
