FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Mid-Ohio Valley faces a critical shortage of health care professionals. West Virginia University at Parkersburg is hosting an information session Tuesday (Nov. 19) so area residents can learn more about pursuing a career in various health-related fields.

The free open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in Room 2636-38 at the college. Hosted by the Health Sciences Division faculty, the information session will provide walk-in participants with details regarding how to become a health care professional or advance in a health-related career.

Information will be available about becoming a registered nurse; advancing from licensed practical nurse to registered nurse, and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

WVU Parkersburg’s health-related programs include Surgical Technology Certificate, Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing, and WVU’s Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Additional information is available by contacting the college’s Health Sciences office, 424-8300.
