Board of Advisors Elects Officers

Bob D’Avria, executive director of the Parkersburg YMCA, is the newly elected chairman of the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Board of Advisors.

D’Avria was elected at the August 20th meeting of the board. Jim Mylott of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council was selected as vice chair.

Other lay members of the advisory board include S. E. (Ed) Ball of GE Plastics; Jack Burlingame of the Jackson County Development Authority; Joe Campbell of WesBanco; Dr. Dan Curry of Wood County Schools; Skip Hackworth of Jobs for WV Graduates; James B. Hayhurst Jr. of United Bankshares, Inc., United National Bank; George Kellenberger of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley; Joyce Okes of the Region IV Workforce Investment Board; Tony Playtis of E.I. Dupont de Nemours, and Trudy Seita of Trudy Seita Associates.

Constituent representatives include Marybeth Busch, student representative; Dr. Cindy Kelley, faculty representative, and August Kafer, classified staff representative.

The Board of Advisors serves in an advisory capacity to WVU Parkersburg and President Erik Bitterbaum. West Virginia University’s 15-member Board of Governors is the governing body for WVU and its regional campuses, including Parkersburg.
