The provost of West Virginia University will deliver the Commencement 2000 address May 13 at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

The 29th annual ceremonies will feature Dr. Gerald E. Lang, WVU provost and vice president for academic affairs and research, whose address is entitled "Living Your Dreams."

WVU Parkersburg’s Commencement is set for 2 p.m. in the College Activities Center. The Class of 2000 includes more than 200 area residents. Approximately 130 candidates for graduation are scheduled to participate in the ceremonies. This marks the final Commencement that WVU Parkersburg President Eldon Miller, who is retiring in June, will preside over.

Dr. Lang is the University’s chief academic officer with responsibility for leadership, management, and policy development for all academic, research and public service programs, including the WVU libraries, Extension Service, information technology, and international programs. Prior to serving as provost, Dr. Lang was dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at WVU for nearly 10 years.

A reception for the graduates and their families will follow Commencement.
