Starring French actor Gerard Depardieu, the film is based on the famous novel by Emile Zola. This is a magnificent, gripping and passionate film that glows with humanity. It is the riveting story of a terrible miners’ strike which destroys a family but which gives promise to future generations. This epic masterpiece has the emotional immediacy of today’s news and will speak to the hearts and minds of all West Virginians who know the state’s struggles in the coal industry.
The film presentation is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, those planning to attend are asked to pick up a free ticket in the college’s Humanities Division Office. A discussion will follow the film.
