News Release
CONTACT: Tom Yencha, WVU Parkersburg director of student activities, 424-8309.
West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s popular Backdoor Comedy Club returns Saturday, April 15, featuring "the funniest man in Texas" and a wacky musical impressionist.
The 8 p.m. show will be held in the college’s multi-purpose room; doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Sharing the stage will be Spanky and Mark Anthony. Spanky won the Funniest Man in Texas honors in 1985. He has appeared on Star Search, Showtime’s "Comedy on the Road," "Evening at the Improv," NBC’s "ER" and "Profiler" and in the movie, "High School High." The Dallas Times Herald describes him as "hot as rubber boots in July …"
Anthony’s fast-paced show jumps from observational humor, politics, and relationships to his forte, musical impressions. His dead-on impressions include Prince, Pearl Jam, James Brown and Robert Plant.
Tickets are $2 in advance for WVU Parkersburg students, faculty and staff and $4 for the general public. At the door, any remaining tickets may be purchased for $2 with a donation of two cans of food. Otherwise, tickets are $4. The canned goods will be donated to Old Man River.
