21st Annual Messiah
Sing

Offers Holiday Spirit to Community
News Release
For additional information, contact H.G. Young III, professor of music, 304-424-8248.
Area residents will have the opportunity to join in the holiday spirit with the community singing of Handel’s "Messiah" Saturday (Dec. 16) at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
The 21st annual Community Messiah Sing will be held at 8 p.m. in the college theatre (Room 1305).
There are no auditions, no rehearsals and the community sing is free and open to the public. There is only one requirement.
"Those that join us for the community sing are expected to sing because there is no audience," said H.G. Young III, professor of music and originator of the annual singing of the holiday oratorio. In fact, the singers give themselves a standing ovation each year with the singing of the rousing "Hallelujah Chorus."
A limited number of musical scores will be available, compliments of Artsbridge. Those that can bring their own copies are encouraged to do so, Young noted.
