A West Virginia University at Parkersburg welding instructor is being honored by her peers.

Tina Buchanan was awarded the District Educator Award at the 2001 American Welding Society’s District 7 conference, held at Edison Welding Institute in Columbus.

She was honored in recognition of quality instruction devoted to the promotion and expansion of welding skills and knowledge. District 7 includes West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

Ms. Buchanan serves as chairperson of the Mid-Ohio Valley Section of the American Welding Society and faculty adviser of WVU Parkersburg’s student AWS chapter. She is a graduate of WVU Parkersburg and an AWS certified welding inspector and educator.

Also at the conference, the District 7 Awards Committee selected three former PRT Vocational Center students to receive $500 scholarships to attend WVU Parkersburg this fall. They are Eric Shawn White and K. Wayne Mosser II, both of Ellenboro, and Anthony Craig Eddy of Jacksonburg.
