'Powerlessness'

News Release
"Release from Powerlessness" is the topic of a presentation highlighting "An Evening for and About Women" being held Friday, March 17, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
The 7 p.m. program is free and open to the public and will be held in the college’s multi-purpose room.
Nationally recognized speaker Dr. Linda Moore, an author, psychologist and management consultant, will share her professional and personal experiences as she reveals the satisfaction of growth and success through personal power. She will discuss why women in today’s society are uncomfortable with personal power and how one can walk the fine line between chaos and change in integrating personal and professional goals.
Based in Kansas City, Dr. Moore is president of Moore-McClelland Associates and the co-founder and former president of CenterPoint, an out-patient counseling center. She has published a book on power, "Release from Powerlessness: A Guide for Taking Charge of Your Life," and is working on a second book on the psychology of women, as well as writing her first novel.
She has served as contributing editor on psychological issues on KMBC-TV News; co-hostess and producer of "Let’s Talk," an educational TV talk show; the associate director of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Counseling Center; assistant professor of counselor education at UMKC; professor at the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Va.; a management consultant with a Boston firm, and a counselor at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Moore’s program is being co-sponsored by WVU Parkersburg, the WVU Center for Women Studies, the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund, and a University System Board of Trustees social justice grant.
Free child care will be available and can be arranged by calling the college’s Children’s Room, 424-8311. Additional information about Dr. Moore’s presentation can be obtained by contacting Karen Branham at the college.
