New WVU Parkersburg Academic Dean Named

Dr. Joseph Badgley has been named the Dean of Arts, Sciences and Career Programs, WVU Parkersburg President Erik Bitterbaum has announced.

Dr. Badgley was selected following a nationwide search.  He has been serving as acting dean during the interim.  

"I am delighted that Dr. Badgley will be assuming the dean's position on a permanent basis," Dr. Bitterbaum said.  "He brings experience and a keen academic perspective to the role." 

Chair of the Education Division since 1991, Dr. Badgley joined the faculty at WVU Parkersburg in 1974. He received his A.B. in Education from Glenville State College, his master's in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Psychology from West Virginia University and his Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education from WVU.  He is a professor of education.
