West Virginia University at Parkersburg and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service are offering a free income tax assistance service.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning Tuesday (Feb. 13) in Room 105-B in the BIDS building on the WVU Parkersburg campus.
Area residents will receive free assistance in income tax preparation.
"We will also offer them the opportunity to file their returns electronically at no charge," Ben Randolph, CPA, and WVU Parkersburg associate professor of business, noted. He will be supervising college accounting students who will provide the income tax assistance.
There is no fee for the VITA service.
Hours are 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays, and 1-3 p.m., Wednesdays. Other days and hours may be added as needed.
