Five New Faculty Join Staff

Five new faculty members have joined the staff for the fall semester at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.  They include:

Charles Almond, instructor of computer science. He received his bachelor of arts degree in political and economic philosophy from Wheeling Jesuit University.

Matt Rhoades, instructor of history. He has a bachelor of arts in history and a master of arts in American history, both from WVU, and a Ph.D. in American history from Syracuse University.

Karen Sadler, instructor of nursing. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Parkersburg Community College, her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from WVU, and her master’s of science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati.

Nathan Sams, temporary instructor of mathematics. He has bachelors’ of arts degrees in chemistry and mathematics, both from WVU, and a master’s of science degree in mathematics from WVU.

Kim Simmons, instructor of nursing. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Cincinnati.

Other faculty appointments for the academic year include:

Tina Buchanan, temporary instructor of welding. She received her Associate in Applied Science degree from WVU Parkersburg. She is a certified welding inspector and educator of the American Welding Society. She has been teaching at the college on a part-time basis.

Jane King, full-time, tenure-track instructor of biology. On the staff on a temporary basis since 1996, she received her bachelor of arts degree from Shepherd College and her M.Ed., from Ohio University.

Marilyn Love, temporary instructor of mathematics and coordinator of the college’s Jackson County Center learning center. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University and her master’s degree from Potsdam State University. She had been at JCC on a temporary basis during the spring semester.
