West Virginia University at Parkersburg is being recognized nationally for its affordable tuition.

The Parkersburg campus is the second most affordable public four-year college in the country, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The College Board’s annual survey of tuition and financial aid is summarized in an article in the Oct. 27th issue of The Chronicle, a leading national higher education publication. The report provides a review of tuition coast-to-coast. WVU at Parkersburg is cited as having the second lowest tuition of all public four-year colleges in the country.  In the same bracket, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is listed as the least expensive overall.

"The College Board’s report confirms what a value WVU Parkersburg is," President Erik Bitterbaum, noted.

"It is another positive indicator of our commitment to provide a community based, affordable college education to area residents in our role as a regional campus of WVU."

The tuition figures are based on tuition and fees charged to first-time, full-time undergraduate students. Average national college costs for 2000-2001 are $3,510 for four-year college, in-state residents. In comparison, WVU Parkersburg’s tuition is $1,436.20 annually for West Virginia residents.
