Faculty and staff must be
admitted to WVU at a graduate
rank, i.e., graduate in a specific program,
or as a professional (MS, DDS, or JD).
Courses taken can be at any level
(undergraduate, graduate, or professional)
as long as they are admitted with graduate
status.
Meritorious hours cannot be awarded as
compensation for work performed.
Faculty and staff may request a maximum of six (6)
credit hours per semester.
Faxed forms will not be processed!
Original signatures are required.
Graduate Tuition Waiver forms are have
deadlines for each semester. Work with Human
Resources to determine the submission
deadline.
All forms must be submitted with valid
700 student id numbers. All social security
numbers have been removed from the system,
making it impossible for us to process forms
without valid 700 id numbers. Please
proofread all student id numbers. The forms
have a column for residency, so please look
up their West Virginia residence status in
Banner/Star under SGASTDN, then, complete
the residency box on the form with N for
non-resident or R for resident.
The West Virginia residency is a big
deal. If the student is entered into the
wrong database their Special Fees B will not
be abated until they contact our office,
therefore the student runs the risk of
having to pay for their Special Fees B when
it should have been abated.
Be sure to tell your students that if
they pay their MANDATORY FEES by the
deadline, (even if the waiver has not gone
through) then late fees may not be assessed,
but if they are, then the likelyhood of
those fees being removed is much greater.
Student accounts can tell them how much
their mandatory fees will be.
When Late Fees are assessed due to
late submission of tuition waivers, the
department will be responsible for writing a
letter/memo to Michael Beto in Student
Accounts explaining why the waiver was
submitted late. If a student or department
wishes to dispute a late fee, they should
make the request directly to Student
Accounts with the letter from the
department. The Office of Graduate Education
has no authority over the
application or removal of late
fees.
