Endowed Scholarships

WVU AT PARKERSBURG FOUNDATION Scholarships

Many generous gifts to the Foundation have provided scholarships to West Virginia University at Parkersburg students.  Scholarship funds can be established in a variety of ways.

A donation of $15,000 is required to establish an endowed scholarship. The donor who is building a fund to reach an endowment level is given five years to complete the process.  Once the fund is endowed, the Foundation Board of Directors officially accepts the fund as part of its permanent endowment.  Contributions to an endowed fund are considered endowment principal and are invested in accordance with the investment policies of the Foundation.  Distribution of income is determined by the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation in accordance with its policy on endowed fund spending.

A non-endowed scholarship fund can be established at any time with a minimum gift of $1,000.  It is preferred that a minimum of $1,000 remain in the fund at all times. Scholarships are distributed in amounts as defined by the donor and by the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation Board through mutual agreement.

Endowed and non-endowed funds may be established in the donor's own name or in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Both types of funds may receive gifts from anyone at anytime.
