A commitment to quality and community is Goldsmit-Black, Inc.’s tradition of exemplary service.  Founded in 1872, Goldsmit-Black, Inc. has long provided services to the many retail establishments in the region.

On Friday, May 21st, Goldsmit & Black, Inc. hosted its Annual Goldsmit-Black Golf Classic at Worthington Golf Course in Parkersburg, WV.  2004 marks the 14th year for the Golf Classic.

Jack Bernheimer, President of Goldsmit & Black along with many of the company’s employees coordinated this year’s successful golf classic.  Each year two local charitable organizations receive the proceeds from the golf tournament.  This year’s beneficiaries were the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation and Wood County Habitat for Humanity.

The Bernheimer family and Goldsmit-Black makes this an annual contribution to the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation for the growth of the R.B. “Bernie” & Marjorie Bernheimer Memorial Scholarship Fund.

While Jack Bernheimer was not on hand to make the check presentation, Dick Rogers, marketing director of the company, presented the $3,707.50 check to Paul D. Daugherty, executive director of the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation.

“The WVU at Parkersburg Foundation is extremely grateful for the ongoing commitment of Goldsmit-Black and the Bernheimer family to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.  This contribution perpetuates the memory of two wonderful community leaders, Bernie & Marjorie Bernheimer.” noted Daugherty.

This scholarship fund was created in 1977 as memorial to Bernie after his untimely death in 1975.  Bernie was President and Owner of Goldsmit-Black.  Upon his death, his wife, Marjorie became President until her death in 2000.  The name of the fund was changed in 2001 to memorialize Marjorie.

Since the scholarship funds’s creation, over 80 students at WVU at Parkersburg have benefited from the generous support of Goldsmit-Black, Inc.
