Those attending were:  Marie Foster Gnage, Diane Braun, Doug Kiger, Tina Buchanan, Mary Beth Busch, Violet Mosser, John Gorrell, Paul Milhoan, Mike Boyd, Bill Niday, Doug Kiger, Joe Super, Joe Badgley, and Patsy Bee.

 

Call to Order:

 

Dr. Marie Foster Gnage, President of WVU Parkersburg and Facilitator for the Mid-Ohio Valley Community and Technical College Consortium, called the meeting to order and presented the agenda.

 

Approval of Minutes:

 

The minutes of the April 10, 2007 meeting of the Mid-Ohio Valley Community and Technical College Consortium and Mid-Ohio Valley Tech-Prep Consortium were approved upon a motion by Mr. Milhoan and second by Ms. Buchanan.

 

CTC Consortium (Dr. Marie Foster Gnage)

 

Review of Charge of Consortium.  President Gnage reminded Consortium members of the Legislative State Code 18B-3C-4 on Community and Technical College Consortia Planning Districts and effort to continue to meet all the goals set in the statue.  She noted that an item has been added to the agenda to include an update at each meeting from the Workforce Investment Board.

 

College Transition Initiative.  Violet Mosser reported that Ravenswood and St. Marys would be added to next year’s program.

 

Progress on Strategies.  Dr. Badgley reported that the Compact had been submitted.  He also reported that the college has received a grant from the WV Council for Community and Technical Colleges in the amount of $139,500 to pursue a pharmacy program at the college.  Dr. Gnage added that they will look at how this can align with the high schools. 


Mr. Kiger reported that schools were involved in testing and 9th grade tours.

 

Career Academies.  Mary Beth Busch provided an update on the Summer Academies.  She noted that the current budget for the program is $18,432 and this includes everything except tuition.

 

Paul Milhoan provided information on an Engineering Technology class that will be held for 11th and 12th grade students this summer free of charge.

 


 

Tech-Prep Consortium (Diane Braun)

Budget.  Mrs. Braun provided copies of the budget report and reviewed it with Consortium members.  Mrs. Braun reported that by email seven of nine Consortium members voted to approve the purchase of 120 flash drives for seniors for a total cost of $1,410.

 

Upcoming Meeting.  The Consortium agreed that there would be no meetings held in July and August during the summer.

 

EDGE.  Consortium members agreed that post cards should be sent addressed to the “Parents of (student name.)”

 

Mrs. Braun reminded Consortium members that the NTPN meeting this year is scheduled for October 11-13 in Louisville, KY.  Seven members showed an interest in going.

 

2007-2008 Management Plan. Consortium members reviewed the final draft of the Management Plan.  Mrs. Braun will email final copy out to everyone.

 

Next Meeting

The next Consortium meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at noon in the Community Room.
