Those present were: Diane Braun, Daniel Metz, Doug Kiger, Rick Coffman, Bob Daquilante, April Haught, Kellie Swisher, Mike Boyd, David Boggs, Joe Smith, Paul Mihoan, John Gorrell, Mary Beth Busch, Sandy Butcher, Tina Buchanan, Tom Lemon, Rhonda Richards, and Patsy Bee.

 

Call to Order

Diane Braun, Tech-Prep Coordinator for the Consortium called the meeting to order and presented the agenda.

Approval of the Minutes:

The minutes of the January 8, 2008 meeting of the Mid-Ohio Valley Community and Technical College Consortium and Mid-Ohio Valley Tech-Prep Consortium were approved upon a motion by Dr. Milhoan, and second by Ms. Buchanan.

Tech-Prep Consortium (Diane Braun)

Budget:  Ms. Braun distributed copies of the budget report to Consortium members for review and noted that expenses are within the limits of the budget.  Major expenses for January included: Houghton Mifflin and postage at $6,225.00 and Parent Workshops Grants in the amount of $4,000.

FAFSA Workshop.  There have been a total of 27 FAFSA workshops held this year compared to 12 held last year.

Parent Workshop Grants   Parent Workshop Grants have been provided to the following schools: Edison, Blennerhassett, Jackson, Wirt, Pleasants, Ripley, Roane, Williamstown, Van Devender, Hamilton, Ravenswood, and Ritchie.

Misc. Items.  Counselors Council will be held soon.  A definite date has not yet been identified.  Ms. Braun distributed a proposed flyer for the Consortium members to review and make recommendations for change.  The flyer will be used for display and to give to students.  Ms. Braun asked Mr. Coffman to provide a photo from the auto program competition that she could provide Connie Dziagwa for publication.  Ms. Braun announced that Dr. Kathy D’Antoni has been appointed as Interim President of West Virginia State Community and Technical College.

Twenty STARS Evaluation.  Ms. Braun provided Tech Center Directors copies of the Twenty Star Evaluation and asked them to complete and send to her.  She also provided worksheets for each of the counties, high schools, and the college representatives to complete and return to her.  The worksheet for the Consortium was distributed to all members present and was partially completed during the meeting. It will be completed and reviewed at the next meeting,

With no further business to be discussed, the meeting adjourned and Consortium members joined a focus group with business and industry facilitated by Kathy J. Swanson, President of CLARUS Corporation.
