Dean Update

Judy announced that she is contracted through Oct.5 to serve as Interim Dean of Students.  A lady from OU, Danita Brown, will come Sept. 24 and assume the interim position  for one year or until a dean search is complete.  We are looking forward to her enthusiasm and new ideas.

Space Renovations

New offices will house the Dean of Students and the Executive Dean with a conference room available.

The Human Resources department is moving to the present Executive Dean’s office with the possibility of the Welcome Center going to the present Human Resources space.

Campus Telecommunication and Space Standards

A criterion for Campus Telecommunication and Space Standards was distributed.  Judy said that she will discuss with any staff needs for long distance and it will be evaluated.

Professional appearance of offices is necessary.  Space standards were also discussed.

GroupWise

A GroupWise review will be available on Wednesday September 10-12.  Work-Study employees should attend.  Each Student Services employee should give proxy to his or her supervisor.  Individuals should put on their calendars where they will be during the week.   All GroupWise appointments should include purpose, student ID, and phone number.

Judy asked that all directors give Karen proxy to their calendars.

Judy has asked for input from all Student Services employees in order to make her recommendation to Dr. Gnage in creating an effective Student Services organization.

Allison Sayre is the new Health and Wellness Coordinator.  She will split her time with the Nursing Division.  There will be no clinical services available.  It will be strictly a wellness service.

Office Coverage

The draft for office coverage was discussed and Judy asked that each office develop a coverage schedule.

Judy asked for assistance in coverage next week wile Karen is on vacation.

Judy will research office times in an effort to help get the open hours coordinated for all campus offices.

Early Intervention

A new on-line system has been initiated to refer students to the Dean of Students or Learning Center.

Other

Chris reported that from May – present 1,243 students were served in Advising Center.

A collaboration with academics will be developed to make a stronger advising process.  Chris will meet with Dr. Richards regarding the process.

Cecelia reported that curriculum sheets are going to Dr. Richards and she will post on the internet.
